Pulsar — Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Tester

The Pulsar is a compact, rugged ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) tester designed for site use on concrete structures, masonry, rock, and timber. It measures the transit time of compressional (P-wave) ultrasonic pulses between transducers and converts the reading to pulse velocity (m/s), which correlates to concrete quality, uniformity, and estimated compressive strength per IS 13311 Part 1 and ASTM C597.

Concrete Quality Classification (IS 13311)

UPV > 4,500 m/s: Excellent | 3,500–4,500 m/s: Good | 3,000–3,500 m/s: Medium | < 3,000 m/s: Doubtful. These ranges apply to standard OPC concrete; high-strength and special concretes require site-specific calibration curves.
