Concrete Penetrometer

This equipment is used to determine the setting time of freshly mixed concrete by measuring the resistance of mortar to penetration. The instrument is designed for accurate and reliable field and laboratory testing in accordance with IS 8142 and ASTM C 403.

The apparatus consists of a cylindrical spring housing with a plunger fixed at the top of the spring. A penetration needle is attached at the opposite end of the spring housing to apply controlled pressure to the test specimen.

The plunger is graduated in 1 kg divisions, with a maximum capacity of 60 kg, and readings are taken with reference to the top end of the spring housing, ensuring easy and precise observation.

A set of six interchangeable needle points is provided, having penetration areas of 645, 323, 161, 65, 32, and 16 mm², enabling testing over a wide range of concrete consistencies and setting stages.
