Reference Bar for UPV Tester — Calibration Standard

The Reference Bar for Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) Tester is a precision steel or acrylic calibration bar used to verify the calibration of UPV testers (Pundit, UPV Machine, and other ultrasonic instruments) before and after each test session as per IS 13311 Part 1 and BS 1881 Part 203. The reference bar has a known, stable transit time that allows the instrument to be zeroed and calibrated without testing actual concrete.

How to Use

Apply transducers to opposite ends of the reference bar, read the transit time on the instrument, and compare to the engraved reference value. If the displayed value differs by more than ±0.1 μs, check transducer coupling and recalibrate. This procedure must be carried out at the start and end of each day’s testing per IS 13311 Part 1.
