Tensile Testing Machine — Paper and Packaging Tensile Strength

The Tensile Testing Machine for paper and packaging measures the tensile strength, elongation at break, and elastic modulus of paper, board, tissue, film, foil, and flexible packaging materials as per ISO 1924, TAPPI T494, IS 1060 Part 3, and ASTM D828. The constant rate of elongation (CRE) machine grips a standard strip specimen at both ends and pulls at a controlled rate, recording load vs. extension until failure.

Test Parameters

For ISO 1924: Strip 15 mm wide × 180 mm gauge length, 20 mm/min speed, test in both machine direction (MD) and cross direction (CD). Report: Tensile index (N·m/g) = Breaking force / (strip width × GSM). Tensile index is GSM-independent and allows comparison across grades and grammages.
