Proctor Mould — Soil Compaction Testing

The Proctor Mould is used for the standard and modified Proctor compaction test to determine the optimum moisture content (OMC) and maximum dry density (MDD) of soils as per IS 2720 Part 7 (Standard) and IS 2720 Part 8 (Modified), and ASTM D698 / D1557. This data is essential for earthwork quality control on roads, embankments, and foundations.

Why Proctor Testing Matters

Under-compacted fill can settle and cause pavement cracking, slope failure, or foundation movement. The Proctor test defines the target dry density that site engineers must achieve during compaction — verified by field density tests using the Core Cutter or Sand Replacement method.
