Mortar Cube Vibrating Machine — Cement Specimen Compaction

The Mortar Cube Vibrating Machine (Vibration Table) is used to compact cement mortar into cube moulds by mechanical vibration as per IS 650 and BS EN 196-1. Vibration removes entrapped air bubbles and ensures uniform compaction of the mortar mix without voids — producing denser, more representative specimens than hand tamping, especially for high-consistency mixes.

Vibration vs Tamping

IS 650 specifies vibration compaction as the standard method for cement mortar cube casting. Tamping by hand rod is an alternative only when a vibrating table is unavailable. Vibration-compacted cubes show 10–15% higher and more consistent compressive strengths than tamped cubes at the same w/c ratio, making the vibrating machine essential for accurate cement grading (OPC 33/43/53).
