Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge — Non-Destructive Wall Thickness Measurement

The Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge is a handheld non-destructive testing instrument used to measure the wall thickness of pipes, tanks, pressure vessels, structural steel, cast iron components, and coated surfaces from one side only — without needing access to the back face. A single-element or dual-element transducer emits an ultrasonic pulse that travels through the material and reflects from the back wall; the instrument measures time-of-flight and converts it to thickness using the material sound velocity.

  • Resolution: 0.1 mm or 0.01 mm (model-dependent)

  • Probe types: Single-element (for clean surfaces), dual-element (for rough/corroded surfaces)

Remaining wall thickness in corroded pipes, thickness of concrete cover over reinforcement (with appropriate transducer), steel plate thickness for structural assessment, tank bottom inspection, coating+substrate combined thickness, and castings quality control.
